The Story Behind the Bracelet
At the center of this Kennebunkport™ Bracelet is “Reid’s Knot”, symbolizing strength of spirit and a commitment to living and loving. The bracelet’s design and name symbolize multiple facets of Reid’s legacy.
Reid loved the natural beauty and energy of Kennebunkport. He spent his summers there sailing and teaching children to sail. He began each course teaching his students a variety of strong sailing knots that would make them safe and competent sailors.
Like the band of the bracelet, Reid’s life came full circle. Like the placement of the bracelet’s knot, at the center of that circle was the strength of his love for life, family, and friends. Reid’s life came full circle in too short a time, but his passion for life enabled him to live it to its fullest and to lead a complete life in the time he had. Shortly before he died, he asked his family and friends to be sure to live life to the fullest, no matter what happened to him.
Reid shared a devoted love with his girlfriend. That love survived the harrowing journey of an aggressive and courageous battle against a terminal disease. That love bonded their hearts together in a union unbroken by the tragedy that enveloped them.
